Creating PDF Files With Clickable Anchor Text Links

August 24th, 2006

A common question that’s asked is,

“How do I create PDF files that contain clickable word links instead of only clickable URLs?”

The problem here is that many PDF converters don’t create links such as this, Internet Marketing Fool, correctly. Instead, the only way to output a clickable link is to use the full URL, http://www.internetmarketingfool.com. Obviously, this is a bit clunky and there are disadvantages especially if the document contains affiliate links.

There is at least one desktop PDF converter that carries out this task as well as providing many user configurable options and the one I use is PDF X-Change Pro.

The PDF files that PDF X-Change Pro generates are also very compact. I compared its output against the output from Jaws PDF Creator and its output was significantly smaller in filesize.
