ICANN have finally decided to pull the plug on RegisterFly’s registrar accreditation and not before time, many will say. Whilst this hinders RegisterFly’s ability to continue business as a registrar it’s not going to stop them taking orders and nor does it provide any real consolation for those people who have domains still stuck in RegisterFly’s systems.
The only person who can really say what the future holds for RegisterFly and the domains it still ‘protects’ behind its WHOIS privacy service is the CEO, Kevin Medina. Only now, he’s probably got less of a reason to comply with ICANNs demands,
Between now and 31 March RegisterFly is required to unlock and provide all necessary Authinfo codes to allow domain name transfers to occur. Any and all registrants wishing to transfer away from RegisterFly during this period should be allowed to do so efficiently and expeditiously.
I guess time only will tell.

While the imporance of domain names vary from personal vanity to huge commercial, everyone expects professional handling of their domain names. Sometimes we don’t know when we have it good. Internic did a good job as I remember, and while my domains are still registered with Network Solutions, I have had problems with them also. No company is perfect though and I guess if one particular registrar is the worst, and gets terminated, it will teach other existing and potential registrars to handle domains in a professional manner because there can be repercussions. I for one believe competition is good and the company delivering the best price performance should get the business. Long live the Internet
