Changes A-Fool

August 12th, 2006

If you’ve been here before then you’ve probably noticed by now that my blog looks completely different from what it was!

Under the strain of all the WordPress plugins I’d installed, my poor two-column layout was looking rather crowded and whilst I knew where everything was I had concerns about everyone elses experience!

So, to address this I’ve installed a 3-column variant of the K2 theme (see the credits at the bottom of the page) in order to spread things out a little.  There’s also a few gadgets that come built-in like the little history slider at the top giving you quicker access to previous posts, a button-less search facility and an AJAX-powered comment system.

Whilst on the subject of commenting, I’ve installed the Akismet plugin and turned off the moderation so legitimate comment authors should receive instant gratification by having their contributions automatically approved without having to wait for me to act and spam should be automatically filtered, saving me a bit of time.

I hope you like the changes because I’ve made them for YOU! :)

  1. Looks great!

  2. This new layout looks great.

I am using a blog based on pluggedout and I am planning to migrate to wordpress because of the wide availability of various plugins in wordpress.

  3. Looks good! I’ve recently taken the plunge to migrate to a three column layout – what a challenge!

I couldn’t find anything I liked, so eventually ended up hacking the crap out of an existing theme. It still looks terrible, but now serves the functions I wanted it to.
