Burt’s voiced his opinion of something that’s been niggling at me for a while now; Internet marketers who milk their lists dry!
I’m a subscriber of more than half a dozen different mailing lists, primarily due to my hunger for scripts and info products. Whilst I subscribe mainly to keep informed about product updates, I do tolerate the occasional email pimping someone elses product. It seems logically that I might well be interested in a topic for which I’ve already bought a product in, but some people really do push their luck.
Since these ‘newsletters’ automatically get filtered into a special folder (surprisingly, a lot of them find their way into the spam folder – fancy that) they don’t really cause much of a nuisance. Occasionally, I’ll flick through these emails and what’s sad is that most don’t contain any useful information whatsoever.
I used to think that I could even learn a thing or two by studying these newsletters, but to be honest, I don’t want to saturate my subscribers with endless promotional material.
So, I’m going to vote with my mouse and cut a few of these pimps off!

Until a couple of days ago, I was subscribed to two of Michael ________’s (that’s a clue) lists; one as a customer and one for a free course. I decided that I didn’t need to receive twice as many recommendations for the Butterfly Marketing Manuscript (BMM) and so decided to unsubscribe from the freebie.
About a day later, I get another email, but this time it’s apologising for sending so many email recommendations for the BMM. The apology did, of course, contain yet more promotional material for BMM so I unsubscribed from that list too.
That’s just too much like slapping someone, then apologising with another slap!
Will – how did you manage to unsubscribe from Mike F_______?
I have never seen an unsubscribe option is his e-mails or on his websites. Wherever I look people are complaining about recorded messages on his customer service answering machine and his impregnable online helpdesk. I’ve seen one post by a guy who said he had to cancel his credit card to stop Mike F from billing him.
Please let me know!
Ah, it wasn’t Mike F! I don’t think I was ever subscribed to his lists at all…
