AdSense Tracker Statistics Still Not Reconciling

April 1st, 2006

After 6 weeks of using AdSense Gold, the AdSense Tracker script has been updated twice; one of those updates was a major milestone - the ability to track AdSense clicks made in the Firefox web browser.

With the increasing numbers of surfers using Firefox (currently around 25%), not being able to track their clicks was a growing hole in the benefits offered by the tracker.

In my own case, I’ve been using the Firefox tracking version of the script for over two weeks now and the click figures that it’s showing me still aren’t reconciling with those that Google are telling me.

Looking over a 7-day period to get around the difference between what my installation and Google think the current date is, the AdSense Tracker click figure for most domains is less than 50% of what Google is reporting. In some cases, the difference is as much as two-thirds.

The information that I’m getting from the clicks that are being tracked is really useful and gives me a good insight into the behaviour patterns of visitors (especially the ad-clickers!). However, it’s unfortunate to think I’m missing two-thirds of the information I should be getting.
