Using Press Releases for Affiliate Marketing

February 27th, 2006

The author of one of my all-time favourite Internet marketing books (Super Affiliate Handbook), Rosalind Gardner, recently commented on using press releases for the purpose of marketing affiliate sites.

Coincidentally, I recently issued a press release (to multiple agencies for free using Press Equalizer) about a viral tool I was offering that as well as being useful also promoted a $300 product.  The result was several hundred dollars in commission and a number of additional backlinks from well-established websites for a couple of hours work! :)

The technique is along similar lines to writing and submitting articles to gain credibility, attract visitor traffic and establish backlinks from websites that syndicate content.  When you’re using these techniques, you should always do your best to write for the reader first and to promote yourself second.

I’ve always found that well-written content will reap more benefits and you might be surprised at just how far your content reaches when you put some effort into writing something that people will want to read rather than just publish for the sake of content.

Private Label Rights Frenzy and Free PLR Articles

February 19th, 2006

The Internet marketing world seems to be whipping itself up into a private label rights (PLR) frenzy at the moment with both products and articles being the most popular offerings.  The big selling point is the transfer of ownership to the buyer of PLR products so they’re able to treat them as their own.  The downside is that there is usually some amount of effort required from the buyer to make the products unique before releasing them to the public.

If you subscribe to the theory of duplicate content penalty then you probably wouldn’t want to depend too heavily on PLR articles that you haven’t rewritten in some way.

If you’re interested in having some PLR articles to act as a basis for your own content then you might be interested in the 700 Private Label Articles being offered for free.
